purpose is to further the interests of the Parish and meetings are held

Loft and
cavity wall insulation is a cost-effective way of reducing heating
bills. The cost of loft and cavity wall insulation is subsidised by the
energy utility companies and in addition to this the Vale of White Horse
District Council offers a grant of up to £100 to further reduce the
cost. Those who are over the age of 70 or who are in receipt of certain
benefits may be entitled to free loft insulation (restrictions apply). The Council works in conjunction with an insulation discount scheme Cocoon. Cocoon compare a number of insulation installers to find the best price for customers.Cocoon provide customers with a free and no obligation survey and the prices quoted by Cocoon include both the discount from the energy utility companies and the grant from the Council. |

Library
(Mobile) A mobile library visits the village once
a fortnight, on Wednesday mornings from 10:05 to 10:20. The bus parks at Barleycott Lane and seems to arrive very much on time.

Residents on the Hill have a choice of services going
into Oxford along the Abingdon Road. There are request stops at the top
and half way down the Hill in the Oxford direction. For buses to
Abingdon and Wantage there are stops at the bottom of Hinksey Hill and
round the corner to the left at the top of the Hill. For Village residents there is only one really local service To Oxford (via North Hinksey): Bus number 44, run by Heyfordian
Travel. There is a request stop on northbound side of A34 (over the
bridge). The problem here is that the stop is very little used and if the
driver fails to stop it is a long wait, or a longish walk to Hinksey
Hill or Abingdon Road for another bus. NOTE: There are plenty more services available from the Abingdon Road every few minutes. Walk or cycle across the Devil’s Backbone, over the railway bridge and through the park. All routes from this side of the road go into Oxford City Centre. The new national bus pass scheme, which
was introduced on 1 April 2008, allows anyone over 60
or eligible disabled to enjoy free off-peak travel on local buses
anywhere in England. This replaces the concessionary bus pass scheme
which operated for the last two years and had more limited travel
options. For more information, click here.
